Our Story

1975
The Founder Was Born Again In Christ

The Founder, Jeremiah Yap was born again as a believer in Jesus Christ whilst a student in Australia. He attended Clayton Church of Christ and later moved to Waverley Mission in Victoria, Australia.

1981
Petaling Jaya English (PJE) congregation

Jeremiah, along with his wife Susan, returned to Malaysia with a strong calling to plant churches. They began this mission in Petaling Jaya with a small, dedicated team, including Joshua Lee Chin Ban, Leong Mun Wey, Linda, and Philip Lee. Though some team members later moved to Singapore, others who had been part of Waverley Mission joined New Life Restoration Centre (NLRC) after completing their studies. Many became leaders, church planters, and pastors. Jeremiah initially aimed to establish three churches in Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, and Kuala Lumpur.

1988
Petaling Jaya Chinese (PJC) congregation

Patrick Lai and Bee Long planted the first Chinese church in Petaling Jaya. This church was later led by Hiew Yee Onn and Sandy.

1989
Multiplication in Melbourne

Jeremiah and Susan Yap expanded their church-planting efforts to Australia, helping plant a church in Melbourne.

1990
Multiplication in Sydney

Following their success in Melbourne, Jeremiah and Susan Yap planted a church in Sydney, Australia.

1991
Shah Alam English Congregation

David and Phebe Tham, supported by Joshua Lee and Yin Chun, planted the first outreach in Shah Alam.

1992
Cheras English congregation; now known as Kuala Lumpur

Jeffrey and Jaecie Lam planted the Cheras English congregation, now known as Kuala Lumpur. In 2022, this church became a satellite church of Petaling Jaya English under the pastoral care of JS and Jasmine Foo.

Cheras Chinese congregation; now known as Cheras North

Patrick Lai and Bee Long also planted the Cheras Chinese congregation, now known as Cheras North. This congregation was later pastored by Jeffrey and Jaecie Lam, and then by Hiew Yee Onn and Sandy.

1993
Shah Alam Chinese Congregation; First Mission Trip to Cambodia

Arthur and Vera Liew planted the Shah Alam Chinese congregation. This year also marked our first mission trip to Cambodia.

1995
Puchong English congregation

Upon his retirement from secular work, Raymond & Lilian Wee decided to start a church in Puchong. After 12 years of pastoring, they handed over the church to Kenneth Toon and Loo-Ann to pastor. In July 2019, it was merged with the Puchong Chinese congregation.

New Life Mission Fund started. First mission trip to Myanmar.

Jeremiah Yap planted two churches in Russia.
1999
Dengkil Myanmar congregation / Myanmar Ministry

Lily Chin felt her heart tugged for the Myanmar refugees who were in Malaysia after a mission trip to Myanmar. This ministry started with gatherings in factories, houses, jungles, construction sites, and restaurants where they were located. She is a spiritual mother to many of these. Many who have relocated are serving God. One of them, who was a waiter then, is now a pastor of a thriving Myanmar congregation in KL. 

This ministry was discontinued upon her retirement in 2020.

2000
Ampang English congregation

Planted by Yau Kuan Yee and Christine. In 2018, it was merged with the Petaling Jaya English congregation.

Kuching, Sarawak English congregation

Planted by Hoh Ho Yoong and Mavis. The church was discontinued in 2004 when they emigrated to New Zealand.

Orang Asli Ministry

The Lord connected us to missionaries Pastor and Mrs. Park Chelyun from Korea, who planted churches in the Malay Peninsula, Sabah, and in Indonesia.

Puchong Chinese congregation

Gideon Wong and Yee Fun were leaders in PJC when the Lord challenged them to start a Chinese congregation in Puchong. 

In 2019, both the English and Chinese congregations in Puchong were merged as one church with Gideon & Yee Fun pastoring them now. 

2003
Telagus, Sarawak Iban congregation

Adopted by Kuching English church and pastored by Patrick Rowley Jita & Taria.

The church became a New Life mission church when Kuching was discontinued. The church is now pastored by Arthur Priestley Jita and Regina.

Church planting in China

The Chinese church in Petaling Jaya inspired church planting in north-west China. Shah Alam Chinese church continues in supporting churches planted in Southern China

2008
Kuching, Sarawak Iban congregation

Connected and adopted by Kuching English. The church is now pastored by Rimon Guleng & Dumang as a mission church. 

First mission trips to Kobe (Japan), Sikkim (India) and Philippines

Many of these mission trips were initiated by NLRC members. Over time, some of these mission destinations have matured and support for them stopped.

Kepong BM congregation; now known as Sungai Buloh

Planted by Park Dasol, the church is now pastored by Janius & Marlinah Dullah and relocated to Sungai Buloh as a mission church.

Kajang Chinese congregation

Planted by Hiew Yee Onn & Sandy. It is a satellite church of Petaling Jaya Chinese.

Klang Chinese congregation

Planted by Arthur & Vera Liew. It is a satellite church of Shah Alam Chinese

Planted by Park Dasol together with Danill Bulle who became the deacon in the church. The church is pastored by Albinus & Sri Jidwin as a mission church.

Tamparuli, Sabah BM congregation

Planted by Park Dasol, the church is now pastored by Maritin & Dalina Padtong as a mission church.
