Heavenly Father, the journey of life requires us to keep moving forward. Dwelling too long on past disappointments, regrets and mistakes can impede God’s purpose for our lives. When we make mistakes it’s easy to wrestle with shame and withdraw from our world. We may feel like we don’t desire to be loved by God or anyone else. We sometimes have the sense that our faults are so big that we can’t be forgiven.
It takes physical, mental and spiritual energy to let go and look to the future as God beckons us to look forward as we pedal. The answers to our prayers could be just around the corner. Our heavenly Father understands our language and speaks to us through his Word. Prayers need not be eloquent but earnest. When we think our prayers are weak or too short, his Holy Spirit helps us by speaking through us to the Father. God’s Holy Spirit knows us intimately. He knows our longings, our heart-language and our unspoken words and he helps us in our communication with God. God of all comfort, thank you for all your constant presence with us and for your Word that assures us of protection and comfort.
Heavenly Father, as Christians, the Holy Spirit, like wind, propels us along God’s path. The Spirit empowers us to perform all sorts of wonders for the cause of Christ. But sometimes we lack the commitment and willingness to be led in a new direction. We would rather choose a path safe from strong winds or sudden twists and turns. But what exhilaration and joys we will be missing out on when we choose the safe way rather than the way of the Holy Spirit. Father, help us to trust you implicitly, as Jesus did, so that we will be ready to allow the Spirit to direct our paths. God sent Jesus Christ to die for us and redeem us. This grace covers us. We can hold our heads up high and meet the future with confidence and the certainty that we even in our brokenness, God forgives us. Our God will meet all our needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. (Phil.4:19).
In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
