(Editor’s note : this invaluable piece of reflection on AWESOME Hour 2019 is written, in February, to help us move on with God in a fresh way. )
One of the wonderful moments of coming together for worship and prayer on Monday’s Awesome Hour is when the Holy Spirit speaks to the church through different ones as we seek the Lord. Last Monday (Feb 19, 2019) is no exception.
There is a season of freshness that is coming to the church, the Holy Spirit said. And this freshness will affect not just us personally, but will impact all ministries in church. Pr Ron got the church to pray together for this freshness according to this word.
For this freshness to flow increasingly in our church it will require an upgrade or a change in our mindset and how we do things. Brother Gary Liew shared about the need for us to change how we communicate, not just head knowledge only, but in love. He also shared the need for us to enlarge our tents or sphere of influence to people outside church and to communities. Finally he shared the need to us to discard old wineskins and don new wineskins, exhorting us to pursue spiritual growth and maturity in faith, not leaning on past experiences and past way of doing things.
It’s clear then, the vision Pr Lawrence shared to the church of a large tent, stretched wide and glorious, requires both the work of the Holy Spirit i.e. the freshness that is coming, and our required response to upgrade ourselves, taking personal responsibility to grow spiritually unto maturity, so that we can be useful for every good work.
Finally Pr Lawrence addressed those who are dry and weary; those who needed a touch of the Holy Spirit like rain in the desert. The times of refreshing promised by the Lord is always available to us who are weary and needed a new touch from the Lord.
Let’s us continue to encourage each other to upgrade ourselves, pressing in continually in prayer, make every effort to grow spiritually, excelling in every good work and fulfilling God’s mandate to make disciples of all nations, always remembering that all is possible through our continual partnership with the Holy Spirit, who will bring the freshness He has said to the church.
Let the vision of the glorious tent God has given us as a church come to pass.
