(Rev 5:8) And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harpand they were holding goldenbowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.
I am writing this to help all of us enjoy Awesome Hour, our weekly Monday night corporate prayer gathering. These principles will also help you in your daily personal worship and prayer time.
When we come to church, many of us carry the burdens and concerns of the day with us so we must first start by speaking peace to the storms in our lives. If our soul is not still, it will be difficult for us to enter into His presence. Speak peace to the storms of worry, guilt, condemnation, anxiety, fear etc and as our soul is still, we will know the awesomeness of God.
(Psa 46:10) He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Secondly, as we sing, we draw near to God. We must learn to enter into worship not just mentally but with our hearts (in spirit and in truth). As we enjoy and delight in Him and soak in the presence of God, the veils that surround the eyes of our hearts will be removed and we are able to pray according to the desires of God. We are set free from the worries of life and there is a freedom to pray.
(2Co 3:16-17) Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
(Psa 37:4) Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
As we soak in the presence of God, we will soar in the heavenly realms to take our positions and authority in the Lord. That is when we begin to hear God’s heart and we can make intercession according to the will of God. There are so many things that we can pray for but only the Holy Spirit can direct our prayers so that our arrows of prayer do not fly all over the place. Here we can sense the heartbeat of God, see visions and prophesy and pray with liberty and accuracy.
(Isa 40:31) But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
(Eph 2:6)…. and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
(Rom 8:27) Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
