As we chatted, with Bro. Joseph’s translation and my smattering of broken Mandarin, I discovered that each of them have a story to tell of God’s love and power and how they came to God .

Likewise, each of you has a story to tell about what God has done in your lives.

The Psalmist exhorts us all to sing songs of joy about God’s works and tell the world of God’s mighty acts and proclaim His great deeds.

Psa 107:22 Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy.

Psa 145:4 One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts.

Psa 145:6 They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds.

I was on the phone with one of our leaders the other day and at the end of our phone conversation, he said he was on his way to pray for someone in the hospital. I have always felt and have seen God used this brother in the healing ministry so I boldly told him that I could see the possibilities of miracles through his ministry and that yes, he should not hesitate to pray for people. He told me that he pushed himself to visit the sick so that he can have a story to tell of what God has done.

He ended our conversation with this remark: ‘Pastor, I remind myself that if I don’t make the effort to go out and do ministry, I won’t have a story to tell.’

I could not agree more. Each of us must be able to tell another of what God has done in our lives. For that possibility to happen, we must be prepared to move out of our zone of ‘unfaith’. The zone of ‘unfaith’ is where life can proceed as it is without the need for us to exercise faith. This is a perimeter of normalcy and of the ordinary. If we want the extraordinary to happen, we need to move out of this zone.

Mission trips are an excellent example of moving out of the zone of ‘unfaith’ and many of us have experienced God in extraordinary ways; from the divine providence of finance or leave to seeing lives being touched by our testimonies or our prayers. However, Christians must not depend on once or twice a year mission trips and that in another country to see God’s works. We must experience God’s marvellous deeds right here in our own country and where we live and work.

And because God has mighty deeds for us to experience in our daily lives, He has made divine arrangements for us and we must walk through those divine doors that angels have opened for us.

It may disturb our well-oiled routine or they come interrupt your afternoon rest but we must be like the sons of Issachar who know how to discern what God wants to do.

God has many stories for each of us to tell or shout from the mountain top. He has one right now waiting for you and I.

Let me end with the first verse of the popular hymn, ‘I LOVE TO TELL THE STORY’.

It goes like this:

I love to tell the story
Of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory,
Of Jesus and His love,

I love to tell the story
Because I know its true,
It satisfies my longing
as nothing else can do.

Love,
Ron Hee

The mornings are delightful. The trees are luxuriantly green. Monkeys enjoy themselves on telephone lines. And gosh; the rushing wind! The sound of a million leaves dancing in the breeze. Life couldn’t be better.

Lord, how wonderful is your works in all the earth!

Glorious food is everywhere. Nasi lemak, roti canai, teh tarik… I smell durians; and there are dukus, langsats, rambutans all in full season.

I thank you Lord, only a few Malaysians go to bed hungry every day.

We are spoilt for choice. The Star, NST, Berita Harian, Sin Chew. All crying out for attention. By and by we are worked up. Confusion, frustrations, complaints, grumblings, fears, worries are written everywhere. Malaysians are angry.

Sanctify them by your Truth, oh Lord. For your Word is Truth (John 17:17).

Let us remember your Word on anger. “Be angry but do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your wrath” (Ephesians 4:26).

We recall Ziklag where the “soul of your people were grieved…But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God” (1 Samuel 30:6).

Let us be strengthened by your Word, oh Lord. Just like David. Let our hearts return to you in unity.

Return as in Acts 2 – in unity of purpose as in the life of the first Christians.
Return as in Ephesians 4 – in unity of hope and calling as explained by Paul.
Return as in John 17 – as modeled by Jesus. (Read more in the book Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. The chapter on A Balanced Life).

Lord, your Spirit quickened us. In these 40 days of prayer and fasting we desire to live the passion, prayer, and power according to your Word in Acts 2, Ephesians 4 and John 17.

Lord, let us be like the sons of Issachar, who had the understanding of times, and who know what Israel ought to do (1 Chronicles 13:32).

Lord, we shall be like David who “served the purposes of God in his own generation” (Acts 13:36).

Thank you Lord, as our prayers flood the nation, Malaysia will increase in it’s beauty, it’s fruitfulness. Malaysia will be a land of plenty and certainly a land of much hope.
As we strengthened ourselves in you; we shall just be like David in Ziklag. We shall recover all (1 Samuel 30:19). For the Lord will make everything beautiful in it’s time for Malaysia.

One of the proudest moments of a parent happens when one of his children sticks up for his siblings. When they were young, whenever we discipline Sarah or Nicholas, we could see the pain in their other’s eyes and often one of them will defend the other.

The church is a family and Grace and I see you all as our spiritual children. It pained us greatly whenever we hear of problems between different ones. It is like seeing your own children hurting each another. Thankfully the Lord has spared us from having too many of these.

On the other hand, our hearts are filled with joy when we see our folks taking the initiative and making the effort to encourage, defend and ‘fight’ for the good of their brothers and sisters.

Last week, David Wong wrote an email to the worship department comrades to encourage them to defend one another when they are under attack. I felt what he said also apply to the church so I have asked for his permission to reproduce it here. He is embarrassed to be put on the spotlight, so do me a favour, go and thank him for the email and embarrass him some more:

David wrote:

“hi there,

as i was driving back to let the cleaner in just now, the lord spoke to my heart about the worship team. he said “you guys gotta stick together”. i knew what he meant. we need to have a joshua and caleb attitude, more so now we are progressing forward, and this means resisting the enemy and pushing back boundaries. fortunately there is strength in numbers, and we are a big team.

so i need your help.

i need your help to change mindset.

if anyone comes with a criticism against the worship team, ask him/her “well, do you have a solution?” if not, no point wasting your energy on this. move on.

if anyone places one talent over the other, say “we are all talented in the worship team”. remember we are a collective body. we are good because we pooled our talents together.

if anyone insults your brother or sister, say “hey bro, when you are insulting him, you are insulting me”. make it clear. we want commmunication that helps us to grow, not pull us down. if they want those types of communication, ask them to go into the world. there are plenty to choose from.

if anyone says it can’t be done, say “hey never try, never know”.

please note guys, i am not asking you to sweep things under the carpet. if there are things that need correction, always, always bring it out to the open to talk about it. i am asking you to have a different mindset. a mindset of faith. please take note, the devices of the enemy is not dramatic, but subtle. he uses people and words to hurt and maim. but the good news is, we are turning the tables on him. we are hurting the enemy instead. whatever strategy he throws at us only serves to make us stronger in love and unity. thats why i need us all to be together on this.

may the lord open your eyes to what he is doing in our church. if you forget everything i said in the email, just remember this: STICK TOGETHER LIKE GLUE.

god bless
david”

With Fatherly affections,

History of nations had been changed through cries.

God delivered the Israelites from Egypt because the people cried.

Exodus 3:7-8: Then the LORD told him, “I have certainly seen the oppression of My people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land. It is a land flowing with milk and honey—the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live.

The nation of Scotland was changed when John Knox cried three times at the back of his home, “Give me Scotland or I die.” Knox’s influence has been the greatest of any man in Scotland. His life was shaped by two great principles – a deep love and devotion for his country and an all-consuming desire to advance the glory of God.

Lives have been miraculously changed because of cries.

Bartimaeus was healed of his blindness because he refused to be silenced by the crowd. In fact he cried louder, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.” His cries stopped Jesus on his journey and Bartimaeus received a miracle because he cried.

In the New Life devotional booklet IV entitled ‘Intimacy with God’, Grace wrote: “Crying precedes a breakthrough.” She recounted how the powerful healing ministry of Kathryn Kulman started because she cried uncontrollably for the lack of miracles after attending an evangelistic service.

As we fast (either from food or from an activity) let the cries of hunger from our body (or cries of desire for a habit) be reminders to us to cry to the Lord for the nation, for the church and for a breakthrough for ourselves.

Ask God for a ‘cry’. You, the church and the nation will be changed by that ‘cry’. Cry for one more soul for Jesus. Cry for the prophetic promises over you to be fulfilled. Cry to be healed of spiritual barrenness. Cry for the river of life to flow from you. Cry for justice. Cry for racial reconciliation.

Our nation began with our first PM Tuanku Abdul Rahman leading the nation with the cry for Independence – ‘Merdeka… Merdeka… Merdeka!’

Malaysia will grow and be transformed if the people of God have a cry. Let’s come for the prayer at dawn and let us together cry out to the Lord for Malaysia.

Love,
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

On a daily basis there’s more going on than what meets the eye. Our lives aren’t just physical occurrences. There is a sinister battle going on. It’s between good and evil. If God were to pull back the veneer and allow us to see with spiritual eyes, we would see angels and demons right here in conflict! They are fighting for the souls of our friends and for the conquest of nations.

In 1995, God gave Rick Joyner a panoramic dream and vision where he saw hordes of satanic armies marching against the church of the living God.

He wrote, “I saw a demonic army so large that it stretched as far as I could see. It was separated into divisions, with each carrying a different banner. The foremost and most powerful divisions were Pride, Self righteousness, Respectability, Selfish Ambition, and Unrighteous Judgment, but the largest of all was Jealousy. The leader of this vast army was the Accuser of the Brethren himself. I knew that there were many more evil divisions beyond my scope of vision, but these were the vanguard of this terrible horde from hell that was now being released against the church. The weapons carried by this horde had names on them: the swords were named Intimidation; the spears were named Treachery; and their arrows were named Accusations, Gossip, Slander and Faultfinding. Scouts and smaller companies of demons with such names as Rejection, Bitterness, Impatience, Unforgiveness and Lust were sent in advance of this army to prepare for the main attack. I knew in my heart that the church had never faced anything like this before.”

Church, I am convinced that God’s armies are more powerful and bigger than this demonic army (2 Kings 6) but they are empowered only when the church rise up in prayer. Many Christians have been lulled into a false sense of ‘okay-ness’ and fall into a state of apathy, prayerlessness and dryness like the army in the valley of dry bones in Ezekiel 37. God has made us prophets and priests and we need to prophesy (prayer is prophetic) and see the ‘fearsome’ army of God rise and defeat the armies of satan.

If you are convinced that God has placed you in this church and in this nation, I urge you to join me and the church in coming for the dawn prayer from 8th August to 16th of September. Will you commit this time to pray for our nation and for our church? I am confident that your prayers will make a difference. Prayer always releases the miraculous and does what is humanly impossible. It will endue New Life with divine power to be healthy, fruitful and vibrant and our nation will continue to be transformed for the better. Last Wednesday morning, the prophetic word that came to us was that God is going to remove spiritual barrenness if we are willing to step out in faith during this 40-day period to bless another person.

God is sovereign and He can do all things without us but He chose to give us the privilege of being involved in His majesty’s service.

Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon. The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes.- Isaiah 58:10-12

God is bringing forth a company of men and women of God who will walk with confidence and faith because they will be the voice of influence and leadership in a world increasingly shaken by ecological, political and financial crisis from every side.

When the apostle Paul was being transferred from Jerusalem to Rome to stand trial, the ship he sailed on was hit by such a furious storm that all aboard gave up hope of living except Paul.

The key to Paul ’s confidence was revealed in the following statement to the 276 passengers on board- ‘…the God to whom I belong and whom I serve.’ (Acts 27:23)

Firstly, Paul knew that if you are God’s child, then your problems are his problems. And God is much better at fighting your battles and solving your problems than you will ever be. Your job is to trust him to work it all out. Perhaps the reason we have so many tired, fatigued, and discouraged Christians is because we think, “It all depends on me.”

God told King Jehoshaphat that no matter how big his opposition was, he did not need even fight because He told Jehoshaphat that his battle belongs to God. In other words, it’s God’s problem. Let God solve it.

Rick Warren said, “The day you resign as General Manager of the Universe, you’re going to find that it doesn’t fall apart. You can relax in faith, trusting that God is able to run things without your help.”

Folks, many people panic in a crisis because they do not know to whom their life belong to. If you do know, you will be so confident that it is God, not life’s storms or circumstances that determine s the outcome of your life. As a result, all on board the ship looked to Paul for direction and counsel and they were all eventually saved.

Secondly, Paul knew whom he served. Many people serve only themselves and live as their own masters and must fend for themselves in all situations. The Roman soldiers on the ship served the Roman Empire and the merchants on the ship served wealth and money. When the storm hit, neither the Roman Empire nor their wealth could rescue them. On the other hand, God never abandons those who serve Him. Even in the fiery furnace, the Lord was there with Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego.

Friends, do you want to live a confident life? In your prayer today, give your life over to God. Let Him own you. Then make a decision to serve Him and He will take care of you no matter what your circumstances in life may be.

Love,
